We are taking a break from our usual Reflections Wednesday publication to focus on a different topic—reading.
If you read The Schwar Report on Monday, you should have seen this quote:
"I don't think you can get to be a really good investor over a broad range without doing a massive amount of reading. I don't think any one book will do it for you." — Charlie Munger
With that in mind, we’re setting a community reading challenge: in the remaining 76 days of the year, we want you to read 10 books. That’s over a week to finish each one! Below are the 10 books we’ve chosen to finish before the end of the year:
1. The Black Swan
by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Explores the impact of rare and unpredictable events on our world and how to deal with them.
2. Alchemy
by Rory Sutherland
A fresh perspective on the power of irrationality in decision-making and problem-solving.
3. Creativity, Inc.
by Ed Catmull
The co-founder of Pixar shares insights on how to nurture creativity and lead a successful creative organization.
4. Liar's Poker
by Michael Lewis
A semi-autobiographical account of Wall Street in the 1980s, providing a look into the excess and greed of the era.
5. The Winner Effect
by Ian Robertson
Investigates the psychology of winning and losing, and how it changes the brain’s chemistry.
6. Skin in the Game
by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Taleb discusses the importance of risk-taking and accountability in decision-making.
7. The Alchemy of Finance
